For professional training in contemporary dance - Brussels
ACADEMIC YEAR 2010-2011
PARTS is a school for higher education in contemporary dance, with a full time training program. It offers an education for dancers and choreographers.
The school was founded in 1995 by Rosas and De Munt/ La Monnaie. Director of the school is choreographer Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker.
PARTS is an international school, with students and teachers coming from more than 20 different countries. The working language is English. The school shares its premises with the Rosas dance company and the music ensemble Ictus.
The complete PARTS-curriculum consists of four years divided into two Cycles: a Training cycle (year 1 & 2), followed by a Research Cycle (year 3 & 4).
The goal of the Training Cycle is to develop a solid but diverse dance technique, an embodied insight into repertory and choreographic composition, a strong body-awareness and a sophisticated and informed approach to theatre, music and art history. The program is identical for all students.
The Research Cycle focuses on the intensive study of repertory and the development of a personal vocabulary through projects with guest choreographers, personal work and advanced theoretical classes.
The program is concluded by an international tour of graduation works. Students can follow an individual trajectory through selected workshops and facilities for creating personal work. Candidates who have completed a professional dance training (bachelor level) can enter directly into the Research Cycle.
